EXPERIMENTAL! The Illinois State Water Survey’s (ISWS) Coordinated Hazard Assessment and Mapping Program (CHAMP) prepared projected flooding analysis and datasets based on forecasted precipitation in Southern Illinois to assist the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) and local emergency managers prepare and respond to forecasted flooding.
This information is provided to support emergency planning and response activities. It may be used to identify areas of potential concern and prioritize emergency management resources. Local knowledge, real-time observations, and official NWS river forecasts should be used in conjunction with these projections for decision-making purposes.
